Important Changes to TN Physician Connectivity Grants
Aug 4, 2008
TN eHealth Advisory Council

Governor Phil Bredesen, as part of the eHealth Initiative, will now cover all costs associated with connectivity and authentication for each prescriber to connect to the eHealth Network (formally known as the TNII - eHealth Exchange Zone). If you are an independent treatment site or your treatment site is already connected to another treatment site (i.e. hub-and-spoke model), the State will cover the costs to connect the hub site to the eHealth Network and also cover the authentication for each prescriber. This will not affect your current internet provider.

There will be no out-of-pocket costs for your treatment site to connect!

Tennessee
has a very aggressive plan to connect your treatment site to the eHealth Network. Additionally, the State will reimburse actual costs of equipment, software and peripherals up to $3,500 per Tennessee licensed prescriber, with the exception of Physician Assistants and Advance Nurse Practitioners who hold a certificate of fitness to prescribe – they will be reimbursed for actual costs not to exceed $2,500. These reimbursements will be made once your treatment site has been connected to the eHealth Network.

In return, you must purchase equipment and/or software that follow the most current CCHIT standards (located at www.cchit.org) and agree, for a period of two (2) years, to actively participate in electronic prescribing (ePrescribing), capture prescription information to populate a patient’s medication history and use a software application with SureScripts and/or RxHub certifications.

Physician offices that signed up for the connectivity grants will receive an eHealth Network Site Information Form from their grant administrator (Cumberland Pediatric IPA, IVhin, QSource or Community Health Network). The form must be completed and returned in order to schedule your installation appointment. If you have already signed a contract, you will receive an amendment reflecting these changes to your existing contract for reimbursement of actual costs of equipment, software and peripherals not to exceed the limits stated above. Grantees are not required to sign a contract with AT&T for service to connect to the eHealth Network; the State of Tennessee will assume that obligation.
